About Rooftop: Mission
Keep Nashville Housed: Building stability through a compassionate & collaborative rental/mortgage assistance program.
Our Mission
Since 2006, Rooftop has been dedicated to stabilizing households for residents of Davidson County by assisting with rent, mortgage, or deposits. Between 2006 and 2025, Rooftop has supported over 12,653 clients and distributed more than $6.9 million in assistance. On average, twelve months after receiving assistance, 85% of our neighbors either continue to live in the homes where they received help or have the chance to transition into more affordable housing without an eviction or foreclosure.
Rooftop Nashville collaborates with various organizations, including the Community Assistance Network (CAN), the Eviction Right to Counsel (ERTC), and Nashville VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster).
Our application begins online and includes a phone interview with one of our caseworkers. If the individual or family is eligible for one of our current grants, the Rooftop team reviews documentation. Once approved, funds are disbursed directly to the landlord or mortgage lender, after the applicant is notified. For those who find online technology challenging, applications may be submitted over the phone or left in the drop box at our physical location.
Rooftop received its 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service on July 27, 2006. The organization is chartered under the laws of the state of Tennessee and is governed by a board of directors.
