Rooftop Film Festival “The Story of Eviction” Video Fundraiser Contest

 

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES


 

Rooftop Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Nashville, TN.  The mission of Rooftop Foundation is to KEEP NASHVILLE HOUSED: Building stability through a compassionate and collaborative rent/mortgage assistance program.  

 

All proceeds from this fundraiser will provide direct assistance to low-income residents of Davidson County.  

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

  1. Submission deadline: Thursday, February 13, by midnight

  2. Voting Period: Monday, Febuary 17 at 8:15 am - Thursday, February 27 at 8:00 pm. 

  3. Showcase: Febuary 27, 2025, 7:00pm, Darkhorse Theater.  

  4. Winners Announced: Thursday, February 27 at the showcase

PRIZES:  

      $1,000 prize awarded to the entry receiving the most votes during the Early Voting Period and during the Showcase.

       $500 prize awarded to the entry receiving the second most votes during the Early Voting Period and during the Showcase.

      $1,000 prize awarded to the entry that best represents the Rooftop Foundation’s mission as determined by Rooftop Foundation’s Board of Directors.  

 

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THIS CONTEST IS SUBJECT TO ALL RULES SET FORTH BELOW AND APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

 

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST:

  1. Visit https://rooftop-application.formstack.com/forms/video_submission_form  or scan the QR code to access the contest entry form. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Create an original video submission that educates, documents, or illustrates the impact of evictions in Davidson County (Nashville), TN.  Videos may be in color or black-and-white, and can be live action or animated.  The submission can be considered a short film, video, or TikTok.  It should be no longer than three (3) minutes in length.   All eviction data should reflect Davidson County, TN.  

  2. If anyone other than yourself appears in the video, you will need to submit their name and signature on the film participation form. Use this link https://rooftop-application.formstack.com/forms/film_participation_form or have them scan the QR code for the form.  Please have this form available during filming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The contest is open to both individuals and groups.  By submitting an entry, the Entrant, whether an individual or member of a group, expressly acknowledges compliance with these Official Contest Rules, including all eligibility requirements listed herein. Each Entrants that is participating as a member of a group must complete a separate entry form.  If participating as a group, only one Entrant should upload the film.  All Entrants participating as a group should have the same title and creator name listed on their entry form.  

 

LIMIT ONE (1) ENTRY PER ENTRANT FOR THE DURATION OF THE CONTEST.  SUBSEQUEST ENTRIES SUMBITTED ARE VOID.

 

OFFICAL CONTEST RULES

 

Eligibility:  The Rooftop Film Festival is open to anyone.   Rooftop Foundation staff, board of directors and their immediate families and household members, are eligible to enter the contest, but are not eligible to win.  A minor (for these purposes, a person under 18 years of age) submitting an entry must receive parent/legal guardian’s permission and include parent’s/guardian’s signature on the entry form.

 

Submission Requirements:  

  1. Video submissions must be no longer than three (3) minutes.

  2. Video submissions must be submitted in a MP4 format.

  3. Video submissions must reflect the theme of the Contest “The Story of Eviction.” Video content can be educational about the process of eviction, a documentary of the experience of eviction, or reflect the impact of eviction of the household.

  4. All data must be relevant to Davidson County (Nashville), TN

 

Submission deadline: The submission deadline is Thursday, February 13 at midnight.  Videos must be received by the submission deadline in order to be eligible for the contest. Any entry received after the submission deadline will be void.

 

Conditions of Submission:  Videos submitted as part of this contest must be created by the Entrant and must feature and convey accurate information about evictions.   All data represented must be accurate for Davidson County, TN.  Any video which Rooftop Foundation, in its sole opinion, deems to be inappropriate for publication will not be considered, and the corresponding Entrant will be disqualified from the contest.  By submitting an entry, each Entrant represents and warrants that: (i) their video is the sole and original creation of the Entrant and has not been copied in whole or in part from any other work; (ii) the entry does not violate or infringe any copyright, trademark/tradename, or other proprietary right of any person (including but not limited to rights of privacy) or entity; (iii) the entry is the sole and exclusive property of the Entrant; and (iv) the subject(s) and/or persons depicted in the video have given consent to its submission into the contest and its use as contemplated by the Official Contest Rules.  Please do not submit videos that contain depictions of other third-party artistic works, copyrights, trademarks/tradenames, logos, or similar brand identifying marks. For example, any clothing worn by persons appearing in your video must not contain any visible logos, trademarks, or other third-party materials, unless the necessary permissions/licenses have been obtained or such material has been blurred out.  All such entries will be disqualified.  By entering, each Entrant warrants and represents that the entry is their original work, has not been previously licensed, transferred, or published, that Entrants own or otherwise controls all the rights to entry materials.  All entries remain the property of Entrant. By entering, each Entrant grants Rooftop Foundation the right to re-post or use entries for promotional or educational purposes for the benefit of Rooftop Foundation.  By entering, each Entrant further warrants and represents that they have received all rights which may be necessary from any person or entity depicted in the video to grant this assignment and transfer of rights.  All submissions must be in English or have English subtitles.

Submission of an entry is not an indication that the entry has won a prize or is otherwise eligible for a prize. Submission of an entry grants Rooftop Foundation the right to use, publish, adapt, edit, and/or modify such entry in any way, in whole or in part, and to use such entry alone or in combination with other works, as solely determined by Rooftop Foundation, in any and all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, including but not limited to the www.rooftopnashville.org web site, social media sites (including, but not limited to Facebook and Instagram), without limitation or compensation to the Entrant and without right of notice, review or approval of any such use of the entry.  Prior to awarding any prize, the Entrant must agree to the terms of these Official Contest Rules and to sign and return any Affidavit, Liability, and Publicity Releases as may be required by Rooftop Foundation.

Void Submissions: Submissions that are deemed by Rooftop Foundation, in their sole discretion, to be offensive, immoral, obscene, profane, defamatory, not in keeping with the image of Rooftop Foundation, or in violation of these Official Contest Rules will be void. Further, all submissions that contain copyrighted or other proprietary materials for which the Entrant has not obtained appropriate assignment of rights, as well as any content which disparages or portrays Rooftop Foundation in a negative light, or otherwise violates these Official Contest Rules will be void. Furthermore, Rooftop Foundation is not responsible for lost, incomplete, stolen, damaged, garbled, corrupt, illegible, late, or unintelligible entries, or for printing or other errors appearing in these rules or other Contest materials, misprints or errors in other Contest related information, garbled communications, technical or mechanical malfunctions, or other malfunctions, problems or errors, whether caused by equipment, programming used in this Contest, processing errors, human errors or otherwise.

Voting:  A preliminary screening will be conducted by Rooftop Foundation staff to rule out content that does not align with Rooftop’s values or mission.  All videos will be posted to the Rooftop Foundation website and linked to Facebook and Instagram on Friday, February 14, 2025. The Early Voting Period will open on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 8:00 am.  A vote is cast by making a donation to Rooftop Foundation.  A donation of one-dollar ($1.00) is equal to one (1) vote.  The Early Voting Period will end at 5:00 pm Wednesday, February 26, 2025.  The five (5) videos receiving the most votes during the Early Voting Period and up to two (2) additional videos determined by the Rooftop Board of Directors that best represent the Rooftop mission will be featured in a showcase on Thursday, February 27 at 7:00 pm.  The public may continue to vote for the showcase videos until 8:15pm on Thursday, February 29.  The winners will be announced at the showcase.  Winners do not have to be present to be selected as the winner.  In the event of a tie, the Rooftop Foundation Chairman of the Board will choose the winner.  

Prize Delivery: Arrangements for prizes to be distributed will be made once a winner has been verified. If the prize is unclaimed, if the prize correspondence or prize is returned as undeliverable, or if a winner is found ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Contest Rules, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected, at Rooftop Foundation’s option and sole discretion. All federal, state, and local taxes, and all other costs associated with acceptance or use of the prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. Winners may waive their right to receive a prize. All Contest prizes are non-transferrable, non-exchangeable, and nonrefundable, and must be accepted by the winner as awarded. Winners agree that the Rooftop Foundation shall not be liable for injury, loss, or damage of any kind resulting from participation in this Contest or from the acceptance or use of the prizes awarded.


Release: Except where prohibited, by accepting prize, the winner grants permission for Rooftop Foundation and its agents to use their name, video, voice and/or likeness, for advertising, promotion and/or publicity purposes in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented without territorial or time limitations and without additional compensation.
